KATJA SERBER

To Death Me Divides
1995
Materials: fabric, gine, speakers, cd player and an organ piece used in churches at funerals (Johann Sebastian Bach’s Herzlich tut Mich Verlangen (BWV 727))

The installation is a cultural critic of the white dress used at the christian church wedding. By letting the white dress walk into the forrest it instead becomes a symbol of a mystical wedding for the female personality development. Not as one happening but through a life time. In this process something most die and compost for something new to grow, even it is an expanding process.
